Recently released footage of Shaun White's horrific snowboarding fall last year shows the moment the athlete's face slammed into the lip of the half-pipe in New Zealand.

According to the video, released by Yahoo Sports, White was training to win his third Olympic gold medal when the incident occurred.

As he was snowboarding, White, 31, performed a few air tricks before crashing down onto the half-pipe in Cardrona in October. Other snowboarders rushed to check on him as he bled out onto the snow.

In the video, White is also seen bleeding heavily from his face into a towel. White injured his forehead, nose and his upper lip in the fall and was hospitalised immediately after the incident. It took doctors 62 stitches to close the wounds on his face.
