Rog is a Kiwi football legend and arguably Waikato football’s best ever coach. He also enjoyed successful stints at Seatoun, Napier City Rovers, Claudelands Rovers, Hamilton Wanderers, Auckland City and Waikato FC.
Waikato United was his major legacy at club level. Under Rog, the Bulls won the Chatham Cup the first time they entered and were national league runners-up in ‘92 and ‘95, and beaten cup finalists in ‘92. Waikato were never out of the top four under his watch and he built a team with a fearsome reputation in the ‘90s.
Today, aged 74, Rog can still be found out on the grass five times a week coaching talented juniors at the Melville United Academy.
