Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, Sinead O’Connor, Cher, Sade, Mary J. Blige, Jane’s Addiction, and A Tribe Called Quest are among the nominees for Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame’s 2024 class.
Other finalists include Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner and Kool & the Gang.
To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.
Of this year’s nominees, Oasis, Osbourne, Carey, O’Connor, Cher, Sade, Frampton, Foreigner, Kool & the Gang, and Kravitz are on the ballot for the first time.
Osbourne was previously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006. Last year, his wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, ripped on the Hall of Fame for failing to induct Ozzy as a solo artist. “I will never beg. And I will never ask for favors I’ve never asked anyone for a favor,” she said. “So, my thing is fuck you if you don’t realize that somebody really deserves to be here. And you don’t recognize that? Then, see ya!”
The Class of 2024 will be announced in late April, and will formally be enshrined during an induction ceremony held in Cleveland this fall. The inductees will be determined by an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry.
