"Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!"
This was the email that everyone who completed the Boston Marathon this year received from Adidas. Although we can see that they meant well by the message, really Adidas?
There has been a fair bit of backlash from the finishers, with many of them questioning whether the company even realised the connotations around what they sent out.
Since the mistake, Adidas has spoken to TIME, and have apologised for the message.
"We are incredibly sorry. Clearly, there was no thought given to the insensitive email subject line we sent Tuesday"
Here are a few tweets that fans directed at Adidas:
Dear @adidas, I love you, but you need to talk to whoever is doing your email marketing... #BostonMarathon #toosoon @adidasrunning pic.twitter.com/Ow64UqMj9o
